ELEMENTARY OR GRAMMAR SCHOOLS (FOR THE LITTLE ONES)

This was a dance recital we happened upon in Alameda Park. Below you will see some little chickens and what sticks in my mind is a young mom carrying her fully costumed chicken child at a run because she was late. It was very sweet because she really was hurrying and she showed no anger or frustration that I could see. She seemed just excited to get her little boy there so he could be a part of the dance.

Here we see a young Oaxacan future Lady Gaga, assuring that her flowers are at their best. Just a few seconds later we have a second grader with her finger searching for treasures.

LANGUAGE SCHOOLS

Learning Spanish is not just about words and sentence structure. It is even more about learning a style, a culture and a way of thinking and being in the world. As one long time resident of Mexico said in admiration just after the revolution that "ended" in 1920 or so, "In Mexico they will pay an artist to create a mural before they will organize the banking system." The language is a reflection of this world view as much as the world view is a reflection of the language.

Our teachers enjoy teaching and seeing their students learn to write and speak Spanish.
